What this is

This domain is held as part of an early-stage research and development project growing out of practitioner experience in secondary education. The focus is on how targeted, interactive resources might better support students for whom English is an additional or second language — particularly in subject-specific academic contexts where language barriers can compound the challenge of accessing curriculum content.

The direction

Existing EAL and ESL support tends to be generic. The question being explored here is whether more targeted, subject-specific interventions — built around the vocabulary, argument structures, and conventions of particular disciplines — can more effectively address the needs of English language learners in secondary school settings.

This is early-stage thinking, growing out of classroom practice and small-scale practitioner research. Nothing on this domain exists as a finished product yet.
